Students and Parents of Mt. Penn Primary Center:
Welcome to Mt. Penn Primary Center. Our building is located at 201 N. 25th St., within Mt. Penn Borough. Our small community has created a cohesive school ‘family’ that exhibits a safe and secure school environment where academics, behavior and performance all have high expectations.
The Primary Center has the smallest student enrollment in the district serving Kindergarten and First Grade Students. The students follow a six-day cycle while being provided with numerous opportunities for learning. In addition to our challenging core curriculum (reading, math, social studies, science), teachers also offer students instruction in Art, Music, Library, Physical Education and Computer Skills. In order to meet students’ special needs, the Primary Center has a special education teacher as well as speech therapist, school psychologist, and school counselor. Certified teachers in our Reading and ESL programs provide additional support in Math and Reading.
Our faculty and staff believe that a healthy relationship between the community and our school is a fundamental part of our educational program. We are proud of our strong community involvement. An active and supportive PTO has sponsored a school store, numerous assemblies, and monthly family activities. In addition, we have a successful parent volunteer program, welcoming parents and family members into our building each year.
We look forward to meeting and greeting you during the school year. Our teachers have been exploring new technology initiatives, data analysis, instructional strategies and other professional development opportunities throughout the summer.
If you have any questions about our school or would like further information about curriculum, programs, our positive school-wide discipline plan, or becoming a volunteer, please do not hesitate to call me at 610-370-2898.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Shirley Feyers
